Dominican Republic Prayer Calendar

Category : Dominican Republic

Greetings dear prayer-partners,

I pray this finds you safe and well all across the country, as so many of you have been dealing with catastrophic fires and hurricanes.

I leave with another medical team in a little over a week, this time to the DR September 22-29.  Thank you for your faithful prayers on our behalf as we are called to share Jesus in Word and compassionate deed.  We are a team of 19, ordained by God I believe from before time, and we are desperate for your intercessions, as Satan does not want us to take the name of Jesus anywhere.  We go in faith because greater is He in us than he in the world, and you are a huge part of the “home team” undergirding the ‘traveling team’!

Please see the calendar copied and pasted below my signature.

May you receive many blessings in return!  (Watch for my newsletter in October, please.)

Until the whole world hears,

Betsy

Prayer Calendar – Dominican Republic Medical-Evangelism Team

September 22-29, 2017

“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”  James 5:16b

Fri. Sept. 22  Pray for safe travel, connections-made & arrival of all luggage with personal & medical supplies. Please pray for favor getting through customs and that we would be the sweet aroma of Christ to any agent we meet.

Sat. Sept 23  Pray for our 1st day in clinic:  smooth organization & flow; that Betsy & Mary Fran focus on relationships rather than team-leading tasks; our team would be an encouragement to the local missionaries; we would see those the Spirit calls to our clinic through God’s eyes; correct diagnoses are made, providing treatment compassionately. Pray for our team’s nurses Anne Archerd, Nena Cadiente, Anita Chambers and Stella Sosuh.

“The greatest impact any of us can ever have on the missionary movement is to saturate it with prayer and lead other Christians to pray with us.”

David Bryant

Sun. Sept. 24 Pray for bi-cultural team unity all week, especially today as we worship with our Dominican brothers & sisters & for strength as we share the Gospel & provide medical care for the next 4 days. Pray for team health, humility, mutual encouragement, perseverance & stamina as well as for lots of laughter! Pray for the ministry of the Luke Society, Dr. Silvia, her husband Samuel, & (adult) children Fanny, Samuelito, & Pamela. Also, pray for endurance & wisdom for team co-leaders (& nurses!) Betsy Aeschliman & Mary Frances Morris.

“May the God Who gives endurance and encouragement give [us] a spirit of unity among [our]selves as [we] follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and one mouth [we] may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Welcome one another, therefore, as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”  Romans 15:5-7

Mon. Sept. 25  Pray for boldness in Christ in our 2nd day of clinic:  that we would see Jesus do miracles as we pray & seek His healing for our patients; His protection against very real spiritual warfare; that He will keep back the darkness blinding souls to the truth of the Gospel; grace to respond to anything He brings our way. Pray that our focus will be on lifting up Christ & we would experience his strength. Pray for U. S. providers Matt Heimann, Dave Hunter, Won Kim &Craig Lem.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”  Luke 4:18-19

Tues. Sept. 26  Pray that God will work through our clinic ministry today to make Christ known to our patients & to encourage our national brothers & sisters in Christ. Pray for meaningful morning devotions & evening debriefs. Pray for U.S. providers Jenifer Van Barnes, Bo Bashkinsky & Leslie Haizlip.

“For this [we] toil, striving with all the energy He mightily inspires within [us].” Colossians 1:29

Wed. Sept. 27  Pray for our work today:  that the Spirit would use our team to bring increased credibility & visibility to the Luke Society; that the Holy Spirit would move in the hearts of those who come for medical care; any conflicts that arise be lovingly resolved with humility & compassion. Pray for our Dominican & Haitian interpreters who work so hard for us throughout our clinics to appropriately interpret for our patients & doctors, as well as God’s work in their hearts. Also, pray for our American interpreters Jossi Burkemper & Susan Service

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”  Matthew 9:36

Thurs. Sept. 28  Pray for our final half-day of clinic & restful afternoon in Dominican Republic: bi-cultural relationships made during the week would deepen in Christ; for rich team fellowship & reflection. Pray for our churches & families at home who have sacrificed so much for us to serve. Pray for our nurse assistantAmanda Thomas & non-medical teammates Marty Baas (counselor) & Sally Mercer (MTW Medical Project Administrator).

“I will make them strong in the LORD, and they shall glory in His name’, says the LORD.”  Zechariah 10:12

Fri. Sept. 29  Pray for safe travel as we return to the States, for us to be challenged for a lifetime by what God has shown us this past week, & for open doors to witness to our family, friends, & home congregations. Pray that God alone would be glorified! Pray that God will continue to use what He taught us this past week so that we grow deeper in our walk with Him. Pray for the missionaries in the Dominican Republic who will follow up with patients seen in clinics. Pray for our hearts to remain burdened for the needs in the Dominican Republic.

“If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.  To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”  1 Peter 4:11
