Dear Partners in Ministry,
Greetings from Belize!  Anita and I are here for seven weeks this summer and it’s great to be back with our dear friends and co-laborers.  We had the privilege of leading a one day retreat for the clinic staff on May 21st and will lead a marriage seminar, June 29-30 for the two Belize City Churches.  Anita is working in the clinic as the clinic nurse is on vacation for two weeks and I have been preparing for the nine summer teams and attending various meetings.  Presbytery will meet this Saturday and I will be able to attend.  
We are excited to have two summer interns serving at the clinic, Lydia and Celina, who arrived last Saturday.  Today, Jeremy and Angel Martin arrrive with their two daughters to facilitate summer teams.  Please be praying for the both the USA short-term teams and for the receiving churches here in Belize.  Ask God to build His church through the ministries of the teams.
Garry had a good trip to the Dominican Republic in May where 40-50 Haitian pastors and church leaders are wanting to participate in theological and ministry training.  With the help of four French speaking MTW missionaries we will begin classes in August to begin training these men.  Please pray that all the details of the program will come together for an exciting teaching opportunity!

Impacto update/Luis & Dinora Martinez and October Belize Prayer Calendar/Chambers Update

This year just seems to be flying by. September has been a busy month for our staff. We’ve been working hard getting ready for our annual Pastor’s Congress. There have been documents translated, printed, and put into folders. Bags have been filled with notebooks, pens, pencils, books, and hygiene packs. Name tags have been printed and put into badges along with meal tickets. There is much preparation that goes into making this Congress happen, but we rejoice in knowing it’s for God’s glory.
This month we also celebrated Children’s Day. It’s actually on October 1, but we had a party a few days early. The kids from San Juan and Panyebar Happy Tummies came to the Promised Land. They had a day filled with games, fun, laughter, flying kites, and good food.
September also brought graduation for this year’s Stitches of Blessings class! The women were so excited to celebrate this special occasion with their loved ones by their side. Some of the women live almost 2 hours away and made an effort to come to every class. It wasn’t easy for them to find someone to be with their kids and families but they knew it would be worth it in the end.
Please keep our staff lifted in prayer as we prepare for our end of the year ministries. Our Congress is October 2-5 and over 150 people have registered. Pray for our staff, helpers, and speakers. May we all radiate God to His servants. We also have VBS coming up and part of our staff will be traveling to Zacapa with a team from Maine and Ohio. Zona Cero is also fast approaching. This year, due to the request from the youth, we are adding an extra day to Zona Cero! We are doing this by faith. This ministry is not fully funded, but God provides every year, and every year we see how the youth leave with their cups over flowing and filled with the love of Christ. The day Zona Cero ends we will be welcoming a team who will be here to help us celebrate Christmas! Christmas Festival week is the last event of the year and it always brings many blessings. We will be having Christmas at our Happy Tummies locations as well as for the workers, and many more around us. 
Again, we ask that you lift Impacto in prayer, pray for God’s provision, and for physical, as well as spiritual strength for our staff.

Change Your Profile Picture
What is your profile picture on social media? Your picture will either give us a little bit of information of who you are or it could be deceiving. It is easy to use your picture to give an outward appearance rather than to show who you really are. The Bible gives us some verses to help us ‘change’ our profile picture.
“A good name is more desirable than great riches;

 to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” Proverbs 22:1
“But the fruit  of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-13
After reading these verses I encourage you to think about changing your profile picture.
The library at Happy Tummies is very close to being finished! We had a wonderful surprise when, earlier this month, a medical team serving with us from NY had 3 carpenters on the team. These 3 guys were given the time to build bookshelves and chairs for the round tables! We are looking forward to seeing this building completed and really excited that it may happen within the next couple months. Our prayer is to have it up and running by mid-January when school starts for the new year. We need to finish the bathroom as well as the floor and paint the bookshelves. And add a railing for the stairs, for the safety of the children. For this we need $2,200.
The library will benefit our Happy Tummies children as well as those in the community who, for one reason or another, are not part of Happy Tummies. This will be a place where the children of San Juan will not only be able to further their studies but learn more about God and all that He is. We pray that the kids who visit our library will grow “…in wisdom, and stature, and in favor with God and man.” Luke 2:52
Children’s Day gives us an opportunity to love on the kids
and spend time with them.

September Belize Prayer Calander and Chambers update

Dear Partners in Ministry,
Anita and I return to Florida on Saturday after spending nealy a month in Belize.  It has been good to be back to reconnect with colleagues and friends.  I have been filling in for Pamela Murray (Administrator) and Anita has filled in for Estela Uk (RN) while they took their vacations.  I also rerouted the clinic plumbing to prepare for the roof repair of the clinic.  It was a major project and reminded me of our Haiti days when I was the director of physical plant for the hospital.  I also met with church leaders, lead Bible studies, devotionals, and preached at the Patchakan Church this past Sunday.  It has been a good month of ministry.
We will be in Delrey Beach Florida for two weeks, which is our home for the next year as we make decsions on where to best locate to lead the Caribbean ministries for MTW, before I leave for Greece on September 17th.  The MTW LEAD Conference which is held every three years for MTW missionarie and national church partner leaders will be held in Athens this year.  Anita will head to the Dominican Republic (DR) on the 22nd to serve on a MTW medical team ministrering to Dominicans and Haitians in the south-west corner of the DR.  I will join her on September 28 along with MTW missionaries Richard Ramsey and our DR missionary Omar Cedeno to meet with two groups who are asking for assistance in theological education.  I will also meet with one or two Haitian pastors to discuss the possibility of assisting them with training as well.   Please be praying for these trips!
During our two weeks in Florida we will be seeking to recruit missionaries for Belize, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.  In Belize we are seeking a Spanish speaking ordained missionary who has a counseling background or a wife with a counseling degree.  We also need someone to lead mercy ministries and short-term mission teams.  A physican and nusre are being sought for the clinic ministry as well.  In Jamaica we need 1-2 men for theological education with one of them being fluent in sign language to train deaf pastors.  For the Dominican Republic we are looking for someone to be a team leader and to spearhead theological education.  Please be prying for all of these recuritment needs!  I will also be setting up an October trip toTrinidad and Grenada to work on ministry partner relationships with two ministries.  Pray for wisdom and guidence in these endeavors.
The clinic roof project is ready to move forward now that the plumbing has been rerouted from the roof.  We have received $2,000 of the $5,000 additional funds needed to comple the project.  If you can help meet this need it would be greatly appreciated. Happy New Year from Belize

Anita and I do want to wish you a happy New Year!  We are thankful for God’s faithfulness in 2016 and look forward to seeing His faithfulness again in 2017.  We are excited to be a part of what God is doing in Belize and the entire Caribbean region.  This past week has been filled with saying goodby to our Belizean co-laborers, friends, and “adopted” family.  Although we will travel back to Belize in April for meetings it is still hard to know that we will not be living full-time in Belize.  We are confident that the ministry will continue on and that the foundations laid will allow the church to continue to grow and mature in the years to come.  We look forward to continued involvement in the ministry in Belize.

As we return to the U.S. on Wednesday we will begin a 6 month Home Ministry Assignment (HMA) as we also keep up with ministry in the Caribbean.  If your church is having a missions conference or would like a report on the ministry in Belize and the Caribbean please let us know.  Anita will serve on a medical team in Trinidad January 14-22, and both of us will travel to Cuba February 9-13.  I will be making a trip to Haiti February 16-25 and have the privilege of our oldest daughter, Caryann joining me on the trip.  Caryann was six weeks old when we moved to Haiti in 1982 and was going into her sophomore year of high school when we left Haiti in 1997.

How can you pray for us at this time?  1)  For strength as we say our goodbys during our last three days in Belize.  2) Wisdom as we set up visits with supporters and also seek some new support.  3) Wisdom is also needed as Garry evaluates and makes decisions regarding several ministries in the Caribbean region in the next few months.  4) We are excited to be looking at ministry with Haitian communities throughout the Caribbean.  We need guidance as we make plans on how to minister in locations such as the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas where MTW has ministries that interface with Haitian communities.  5) Please pray that God will raise up new missionaries to serve in Belize, both at the clinic and directly with the churches and their leaders.

Again thank you so much for your faithful prayer and financial giving that allows us to be a part of God’s plan to build His church in Belize and the Caribbean throughout the coming year! Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”  May this be true of the ministries we are involved with during the coming year!

MTW missionaries – Belize update December 2016

We just returned to Belize after spending 12 days in the USA for meetings and a funeral in Florida and Thanksgiving in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  The funeral was for Garry’s spiritual father, Stew Stewart, who poured countless hours discipling Garry in the faith and Christian ministry during his growing up years.  We are grateful for Stew’s friendship and display of Christian love to our family!

 Thanksgiving was spent with our three daughters, their husbands, and our five grandchildren.  This was a special treat to have three days together as a family.  It was busy, noisy, crowded, and a great time together. 

Please be praying for us as we prepare to leave Belize in January 2017 for our Home Ministry Assignment and to become more involved in the Caribbean region for MTW.  We have a full travel schedule this coming year.  Anita will go to Trinidad with a medical team on January 14th.  We will both travel to Cuba in February and Garry will also make a trip to Haiti.  Garry expects to make trips to Jamaica, Grenada, Bahamas, and Belize later in the year.    

The MTW Bahamas team will be on the field shortly.  The team leaders, Julian and Christiana Russell, will arrive before Christmas and the John and Karen Stodghill hope to arrive in January.  Please be praying for them as they make this transition and continue to assist those whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Matthew.  There is still a need for funds to assist in both Haiti and the Bahamas.  If you would like to contribute, the MTW website: has a link to give online.  If you prefer to give by mail you can send a check to:  Mission to the World,

God is moving in the Dominican Republic. MTW hopes to have a new family join the team of the Cohen and Cedeño families in the future and God is opening opportunities for theological education and church planting.  We are excited to see what God has planned.
